FAQ

Where is Community Day?

This year’s AWS DMV Community Day will be held at HQ2, located at 1770 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA 22202. Please enter the address directly into your navigation because a general search may lead you to the wrong area. The building is next to the cinema and across the street from the National Landing Water Park.

Is There Parking?

Plenty! There are few parking garages in the area, but the closest one is 1770, 1550 Public Garage Grocer Access (pictured below), priced at $23 for all-day parking. This garage is connected to the building, and the corresponding elevators will take you directly to the lobby. If you can’t find those, you can take the elevators to the shops at 1750, which will lead you to the street level next to the entrance.

As you drive into the garage, look for the event address on the poles to guide you to the correct parking area. If you go up the 1750 shops elevator, take it to the shop level and proceed to the Crystal Drive exit. Looking at the picture below, you will exit from the Shops at 1750 doors and enter through the double doors under the 1770 sign. Take the stairs up to the lobby for check-in.

Other all-day parking garage options:

212 Crystal Dr. Garage – $23

226-240 20th St. S. – $ 22

2144 Crystal Dr. – $23

510 14th Street South – $21

Unfortunately, parking will not be validated.

Though you may park on the street, we strongly discourage it due to varied time limits, permit only areas, and a high potential of getting a ticket.

Is It Metro Accessible?

Yes! Take the Metro to the closest stop at Crystal City station. From there, it’s only a short 3-minute walk to HQ2. You can also take the bus to NB Crystal Drive.

What Do I Need to Bring?

Please bring your government ID for event check in and a laptop to participate in the workshops. For networking purposes, bring your business cards or be prepared with your LinkedIn QR code!

How Do Students Benefit From Community Day?

DMV Community Day gives students a chance to dive deeper into AWS with guidance from experienced practitioners. You’ll gain hands-on experience through workshops and expand your knowledge with our diverse set of sessions on multiple topics. Whether you’re just starting out or already have a foundational understanding of AWS, you’ll leave with actionable insights such as general best practices, how to leverage AWS services, or tips on getting certified to build your resume.

Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to engage directly with other AWS users and meet students on a similar path as you. This is important because growing your network and building connections may lead to potential job opportunities or, better yet, new friendships with people who share the same interests.

For anyone looking to grow in this field, it’s definitely a day well spent!
